- <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>A solid‐phase and solution phase synthesis approach for diiminedichloro complexes of platinum(II) was developed. In particular a dichloroplatinum(II) fragment was coordinated to the diimine ligands {4‐[(pyridine‐2‐ylmethylene)‐amino]‐phenol, HO–N∩N′ (<jats:bold>1</jats:bold>); 4‐[(pyridine‐2‐ylmethylene)‐amino]‐anisole, MeO–N∩N′ (<jats:bold>2</jats:bold>) and di‐<jats:italic>iso</jats:italic>propylsilylpolystyrene immobilised 4‐[(pyridine‐2‐ylmethylene)‐amino]‐phenolate PSO–N∩N′, (<jats:bold>5</jats:bold>)}. Identities of the compounds [Pt<jats:sup>II</jats:sup>Cl<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(HO–N∩N′)] (<jats:bold>3</jats:bold>), [Pt<jats:sup>II</jats:sup>Cl<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(MeO–N∩N′)] (<jats:bold>4</jats:bold>), [Pt<jats:sup>II</jats:sup>Cl<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(PSO–N∩N′)] (<jats:bold>6</jats:bold>) and <jats:bold>3</jats:bold> obtained by cleavage from <jats:bold>6</jats:bold> were established by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, by microanalysis and single‐crystal diffraction (<jats:bold>3</jats:bold> and <jats:bold>4</jats:bold>). Structures of compounds <jats:bold>3</jats:bold> and <jats:bold>4</jats:bold> were discussed with the aid of DFT calculations.</jats:p>
