- <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Alpha decay and spontaneous fission of the ground-state and the isomeric state of <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$^{247}$$</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:msup> <mml:mrow /> <mml:mn>247</mml:mn> </mml:msup> </mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>Md were investigated with specific emphasis to identify the ground-state of the daughter nucleus <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$^{243}$$</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:msup> <mml:mrow /> <mml:mn>243</mml:mn> </mml:msup> </mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>Es. The decay studies were accompanied by measuring <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$\alpha $$</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mi>α</mml:mi> </mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>-<jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$\gamma $$</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mi>γ</mml:mi> </mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> coincidences. On the basis of the measured data an improved decay scheme of <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$^{247}$$</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:msup> <mml:mrow /> <mml:mn>247</mml:mn> </mml:msup> </mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>Md is proposed. Spontaneous fission half-lives of <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$^{247g}$$</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:msup> <mml:mrow /> <mml:mrow> <mml:mn>247</mml:mn> <mml:mi>g</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> </mml:msup> </mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>Md and <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$^{247m}$$</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:msup> <mml:mrow /> <mml:mrow> <mml:mn>247</mml:mn> <mml:mi>m</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> </mml:msup> </mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>Md were determined and the fission hindrance of the high spin ground-state (7/2<jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$^{-}$$</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:msup> <mml:mrow /> <mml:mo>-</mml:mo> </mml:msup> </mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>) relative to the low spin isomeric state (1/2<jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$^{-}$$</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:msup> <mml:mrow /> <mml:mo>-</mml:mo> </mml:msup> </mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>) was estimated.</jats:p>
