- <p>A novel staircase-like decanuclear copper(<sc>ii</sc>) cluster composed of a pair of [CuII5] pentameric units that are linked together exclusively by two μ<sub>2</sub>:η<sup>2</sup>:η<sup>1</sup>carbonate ligands is reported. The cluster also shows a rare μ<sub>3</sub>:η<sup>2</sup>:η<sup>1</sup>:η<sup>1</sup>bridging coordination mode of benzoate groups of the ligand.</p>
