- Abstract
- Student success is a central goal of higher education. Universities face various challenges, e.g., a highly heterogeneous student population with diverse learning preconditions and high dropout rates. Academic success is considered a multifaceted construct that is defined differently (using various indicators) depending on perspective. Empirically, a holistic approach of study success that includes several indicators simultaneously in a single modeling is rarely taken. To promote the academic success and identify students in need of support at the beginning of their studies, several criteria and influencing factors need to be considered. This paper examines the relationships of multiple study success indicators based on a representative sample of 604 economics students and identifies study success profiles and their influences regarding study preconditions.
