- <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p><jats:bold>Abstract.</jats:bold> The heterometallic complex [Co<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>Ni<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(OH)<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(O<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>C<jats:italic>t</jats:italic>Bu)<jats:sub>6</jats:sub>(HOEt)<jats:sub>6</jats:sub>]<jats:bold>·</jats:bold>2EtOH (<jats:bold>1</jats:bold>) with a so called butterfly structural motif was prepared by reaction of the homometallic precursor complexes [Co<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(H<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O)(O<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>C<jats:italic>t</jats:italic>Bu)<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>(HO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>C<jats:italic>t</jats:italic>Bu)<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>] and [Ni<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(H<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O)(O<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>C<jats:italic>t</jats:italic>Bu)<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>(HO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>C<jats:italic>t</jats:italic>Bu)<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>] in an one to one ratio under elevate temperature. Complex <jats:bold>1</jats:bold> was characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, atomic absorption spectroscopy, elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. The magnetic data show an overall antiferromagnetic behavior, which can be explained with three different coupling constants, resulting in a paramagnetic ground state.</jats:p>
