- <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>In this work, we report on a long‐sought missing complex in the metallacrown family. We synthesized and characterized the novel chromium metallacrown (MC) complex {Cr<jats:sup>III</jats:sup>(<jats:italic>μ</jats:italic><jats:sub>2</jats:sub>‐piv)<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>[9‐MC<jats:sub>Cr(III)N(shi)</jats:sub>‐3](morph)<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>}<jats:bold>⋅</jats:bold>MeOH (in which shi<jats:sup>3−</jats:sup>=salicyl hydroxamate, piv=pivalate, and morph=morpholine). The MC with a 9‐MC‐3 cavity of kinetically inert chromium(III) ions was synthesized by a solvothermal reaction. Magnetization measurements reveal a high spin ground state.</jats:p>
