- <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Na<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>[CuO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>][CO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>], Na<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>[CuO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>][SO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>], Na<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>[CuO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>][S], and Na<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>[CuO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>][SO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>] were obtained as single crystals and powders from reactions of Na<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O, Cu<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O, and Na<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>X with X = CO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, SO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, S<jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, and SO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, respectively. A redox reaction between CdO and Co metal occurs in the presence of Na<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O and Na<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>X, yielding Na<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>[CoO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>][X] with X = CO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup> and S<jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>. From a mixture of Na<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>SO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>, CdO and Na<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O in Ni‐containers we observed the formation of Na<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>[NiO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>][S] single crystals. Single crystals of Na<jats:sub>25</jats:sub>[CuO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>[SO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>[S] can be grown by annealing Na<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>[CuO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>][SO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>] at 600 °C, leading to the decomposition of SO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, yielding SO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup> and S<jats:sup>2—</jats:sup> at 550 °C. The structures have been determined from single crystal data and powder data. All structures contain the isolated complex [MO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>]<jats:sup>3—</jats:sup> in a dumb‐bell like arrangement. The main feature of these compounds is that the anions SO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, SO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, CO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup> and S<jats:sup>2—</jats:sup> are not connected to the transition metal. The formation of Na<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>[CuO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>][X] (X = S<jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, SO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, SO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, CO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>) has been studied by thermal analysis and <jats:italic>in situ</jats:italic> X‐ray diffraction techniques. Infrared spectra confirm the presence of SO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, SO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, and CO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub><jats:sup>2—</jats:sup>, respectively, in the structures.</jats:p>
