- <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Na<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>[VO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>][O] and Na<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>[VO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>][OH] were obtained from reactions of V<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>5</jats:sub> with Na<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O and additional NaOH in the latter case, respectively, at 600‐700 °C in sealed Ag containers under Ar atmosphere. The crystal structures have been determined from X‐ray single crystal data. The structures contain isolated [VO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>]<jats:sup>3−</jats:sup> complexes and non‐coordinating oxide and hydroxide anions, respectively. Raman and infrared data is compared for both compounds and hydrogen bonding is discussed for Na<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>[VO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>][OH].</jats:p>
