- <jats:p>We investigated (a) the redox reaction of FeO and Ag<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O in the presence of BaCO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> and V<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>5</jats:sub> under inert atmosphere and (b) the oxidation of FeO in air in the presence of BaCO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>, Na<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>CO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>, and V<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>. The reaction products are members of the glaserite‐type of compounds: Ba(Ag□)Fe[VO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> [<jats:italic>a</jats:italic> = 5.47397(4) Å, <jats:italic>c</jats:italic> = 7.1780(1) Å, <jats:italic>P</jats:italic><jats:styled-content>3</jats:styled-content>]; BaNa<jats:sub>1.63</jats:sub>Fe<jats:sub>0.79</jats:sub>[VO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> [<jats:italic>a</jats:italic> = 9.672(1) Å, <jats:italic>b</jats:italic> = 5.5860(6) Å, <jats:italic>c</jats:italic> = 14.1505(4) Å, <jats:italic>β</jats:italic> = 90.042(9)°, <jats:italic>C</jats:italic>2/<jats:italic>c</jats:italic>]; and Ba(Ba,Na)Na[VO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> [<jats:italic>a</jats:italic> = 5.8478(2) Å, <jats:italic>c</jats:italic> = 7.3835(3) Å, <jats:italic>P</jats:italic><jats:styled-content>3</jats:styled-content><jats:italic>m</jats:italic>1]. The latter presents an example for a statistical distribution of differently charged ions with differences in ionic radii (Ba<jats:sup>2+</jats:sup> and Na<jats:sup>+</jats:sup>) on the <jats:italic>B</jats:italic> site of the general formula <jats:italic>AB</jats:italic><jats:sub>2</jats:sub><jats:italic>M</jats:italic>[VO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>. The iron compounds exhibit differences in the defect concentration and localization of voids. For Ba(Ag□)Fe[VO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> the Fe<jats:sup>3+</jats:sup>‐triangular lattice remains intact and the Ag substructure is depleted by 50 % through the redox reaction (a). In contrast, for BaNa<jats:sub>1.63</jats:sub>Fe<jats:sub>0.79</jats:sub>[VO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> defects occur on both sites (<jats:italic>B</jats:italic> = Na<jats:sup>+</jats:sup> and <jats:italic>M</jats:italic> = Fe<jats:sup>3+</jats:sup>) with a total of 0.58 defects per formula unit. Extended <jats:sup>57</jats:sup>Fe‐Mössbauer studies on a series of Fe‐glaserite compounds relate structural findings from Rietveld refinements of X‐ray diffraction data with defect concentrations, substitution variants, and charge distributions.</jats:p>
