- <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Dark red single crystals of AgCuVO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub> were obtained from hydroxide fluxes in Ag‐containers at 430 °C. According to X‐ray diffraction data AgCuVO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub> crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P<jats:italic>nma</jats:italic> (Z = 4, <jats:italic>a</jats:italic> = 925.5(1) pm, <jats:italic>b</jats:italic> = 677.8(1) pm, <jats:italic>c</jats:italic> = 540.1(1) pm, wR2 = 0.0753). The <jats:italic>Pearson</jats:italic> code (<jats:italic>oP28</jats:italic>) and <jats:italic>Wyckoff</jats:italic> sequence (<jats:italic>dc<jats:sup>4</jats:sup>a</jats:italic>) indicate that AgCuVO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub> is related to the <jats:italic>olivine</jats:italic>‐type of structure, but the first coordination sphere of Ag<jats:sup>I</jats:sup> and Cu<jats:sup>II</jats:sup> differ significantly from the C.N. 6 with irregular square‐pyramidal [AgO<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>] polyhedra and distorted square‐planar [CuO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>] units. These differences in crystal chemistry are discussed and MAPLE as well as ECoN values are given.</jats:p>
